Walking guided tour in the medieval village of Saint Emilion: travel back into the time and let yourself be enchanted by the cobbles and narrows streets of the medieval city.

Why chosing to visit the village of Saint-Emilion?

Saint-Emilion is known for its wine, but it's also a medieval village with a rich and well-preserved heritage. Located just an hour's drive from Bordeaux, as soon as you enter the village, you'll be in awe of the remains of the Great Walls or the Cardinal Palace.

Immerse yourself in the history of this town, which was built around a pilgrimage site before becoming a wine capital.

Originally, Saint Emilion is a medieval town built on a rocky promontory. The village was originally named after a Benedictine monk called Emilion, who lived in the 8th century!

The small town of Saint-Emilion is a jewel. Did you know that it has been listed on UNESCO's World Heritage List since 1999? But an exceptional thing, it's not just the buildings that have captured UNESCO's attention, but the landscape and the 5,000 hectares vineyards, considered a cultural landscape.

Take a guided tour through the narrow and steep streets... Travel back into time with me along a guided tour through the steep streets that we call "tertres", at the foot of the "Tour du Roy" and along the powerful ramparts of the city that largely remain.

Don't follow the tourist cohort... - be different.
Of course, you are part of the million visitors who visit the narrow streets of the medieval city every year...  Let yourself be captivated by the unique atmosphere in Saint-Emilion. At every turn, the buildings are reminders of the city's artistic, spiritual, and commercial wealth during the Middle Ages.
History is everywhere around you if you let your eyes wander. Follow in the footsteps of the pilgrims in Saint-Emilion. From the spiritual collegiate church to the romantic ruins of the Cordeliers cloister, the city is full of spiritual fervor from centuries ago.

On the footsteps of the pilgrims in Saint-Emilion

From the spirituality of the collegiate church to the romanticism of the ruins of the cloister of the Cordeliers, all here reflects the spiritual fervour that animated the city centuries ago.

If you wish, our visit will take us under the village. Of course, I will be pleased to book for you the entrance to the underground monuments. The underground part of Saint-Emilion is a must-see, with miles of galleries that were once used to extract stone for building Bordeaux. If you're interested, I can book a tour of the underground monuments linked to the history of the Saint James pilgrimage (Santiago de Compostela). The catacombs and the largest monolithic church in Europe, dug from the rock between the 11th and 13th centuries, are a particularly stunning sight!

And, of course, make sure you taste the local specialty, the Macaron de Saint-Emilion!
